Whispers in the Loggia: From the Aula, One Last Surprise

An interesting, although ultimately not major development, for women in the Roman church.

The significant portion of it is that historically “lector” was a minor order, only open to men, but now the bishops (who the Pope has no need to follow) recommend that women be installed in this ministry formally.

Technically, women cannot serve as readers, according to Rocco Palmo, but do so under a “temporary deputation” all the time.
