A Breather

18 December 2007

Whew.  What a week so far.  Lots of paperwork (grading papers, filling out grade-sheets, writing recommendations, etc.).  Lots of preparation for our trip.  And yet a good week.  This afternoon is going to be wall-to-wall grading, so I’m taking a lunchtime break.

Today I visited one of the members of MyChurch who lives in a nursing home.  Since she is mentally ill, it’s hard to know how accurate what she tells me is.  She told me that she’s been feeling particularly distant from her son lately.  In her room, there are a few pictures of her son, and pictures of two grandchildren, so I was surprised to hear her say it.  I prayed with her and gave her communion, which she seemed to cheer her up.
I skipped Morning Prayer this morning, but I feel I did something to make up for it.  Instead of praying by myself, I prayed with someone else who really needed it.
