Prayers for the Fourth Sunday After Easter, Year C (2007)

4 May 2007

One with the Risen Christ, let us make known to the Father needs, thanksgivings, and oblations of our hearts.

(pause)

A Lord of All Creation, you showed peter all animals on a four-cornered sheet sent from heaven.  Help us to see nothing in th world as common or unclean, that we may see and witness to the truth of the resurrection in all the earth.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Revealer of Truth, we heard in your Word that “to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance into life.”  Help all bishops, pastors, and ministers in your church to be faithful stewards of the Gospel, especially while engaged in sensitive interfaith work.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Renewer of the World, you revealed “a new heaven and a new earth” to John of Patmos.  We ask your guidance for all civil authorities, that they may rule with justice and wisdom as caretakers of your creation and cooperators in the renewal of the earth.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Fount of Peace, the Paschal mystery makes known to us that suffering and death can yield to glorious peace.  Let peace be known throughout the world, wherever your children fear, kindness is scarce, and healing is needed.  We pray especially for the Holy Land, Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, and wherever else there is suffering.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Source of Healing and Comfort, we pray for the welfare of all, especially
and those we make known to you now, aloud or in our hearts (pause).  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Lord of Life, we thank you for the lives of those who have died and ask that their familiies may know the consoling warmth of your love.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

A Source and Summit of Our Lives, we give you thanks for the Holy Eucharist we will soon share, making us one with all your saints, including Frederick the Wise, Carl Walther, and Julian of Norwich.  We also pray for                 to whom banquet bearers will bring your Body and Blood this week.  Lord, in your mercy,

C Hear our prayer.

(The Presiding Minister concludes with a suitable collect.)
