Feast: Antony of Egypt, Abbot and Father of Monasticism

17 January 2007

stanthony.jpgToday, on the Feast of Saint Anthony the Great of Egypt, make a web-pilgrimage to Saint Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery which is a great resource for chant, prayer, and all sorts of good, Eastern holiness.

Heavenly Father, you granted blessed abbot Antony to serve youn in a marvelous way in the desert. Listen to his petition that we may deny ourselves and always love you above all else. This we ask you through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

from Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary (Collegeville, MN: Liturgical Press, 2005).
